Potluck #56: To Tweet or Not To Tweet...Twitter

Ok, so, I tried just getting on Twitter to see what it's all about. I am really not into the whole 'live blogging' thing, but I'll try it at least once. Well, my suspicions were correct. I really don't like Twitter. I could not figure it out. I couldn't even do a search for things without creating an account. Great, just one more account to keep up with. Lol. I tried using the Twitter support page, but no help there. I was interested in looking up to see what it said about fashion and such, but I'll have to give another wack at it sometime. Maybe I'll get someone who's actually 'twittering' to help me one day. Any who, I did create an account with twitter so I'll go from there. Besides, I guess if I really wanted to just update my status I could do it on Facebook, only since I am more familiar with that site.

Pot Luck #55: Getting the Most Out of Facebook

I am a regular user on Facebook. I usually check in on it about once every 2 weeks or so. I have had it for about 4 years now. I found it to be an awesome tool to keep and catch up with old high school and college classmates. I really like the new gift giving feature. Since my birthday is coming up, a lot of my family and friends are sending me these cool 'Mexican Regalos' which are mexican presents. It's especially nice when you get a poke from someone you haven't spoken to in a while. At least you know that they are thinking about you. I definitely recommend to a lot of people because it alot safer and cleaner than MySpace. It's even better now because you don't have to have a college email to sign up, so most of my family is on here! Go Facebook! I'm glad to see iHCPL has hoped aboard!

Week 5: #12 The "Library" Elf will remind you!

I have registered under my personal email so that I don't have a million and one emails going to work, lol. This service seems very similiar to that which HCPL already provides. I guess we shall see if it is any different.

Week 5: #11 A Thing about Library Thing

Pheww....This one took a little while to figure out. Selcting the books was the easy part, but I had to ask a fellow circ assistant how to add it to my page. Pretty cool though. I enjoyed doing this activity, almost as much as the avavtar!!! My LibraryThing is added to the right of my page so check out some of my favorite reads!!

Week 5: #10 Play around with Image Generators

I edited this picture as a comic on a customize comic stip website and I created the avatar to the right from Meez.com. It was pretty cool. A little time consuming because there is so much stuff to look at and pick from. I had fun with this one!!!

Week 4: #9 Finding Feeds

This exercise did take a little bit of time. I tried just going to some of my fav websites and tried adding them without having to go through a search engine type deal. Unfortunately, most of the websites that I tried did not have that option so I ended up using feedster, which I found was a lot easier and less hassle then try to find a small link on a webpage.

Week 4: #8 Make life "really simple" with RSS and a newsreader

This exercise, I do have to admit, was a little harder than the rest. Setting up the blogline account and subscribing to things like weather and news and quotes of the day was easy, but it took me a little while to figure out how to subscribe to someone's blog. But I got it!! And I must, me like! :-)
